Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
y = x^2 + 8x +15
y = (x+5)(x+3)
x intercepts or roots = -3 and -5
y =x^2 + 12x +27
y = (x+9)(x+3)
x = -3 and -9 = roots, solutions, y intercepts or zeros
(problem was modified to make it easier to solve or more understandable, or both)
closer to as written though
x^2 +8x -15
x = -4 +/-sqr31
x^2 +12x +29
x = -6+/-sqr7
irrational roots come in conjugate pairs
whatever the original quadratics, they were upward opening parabolas
that intersect the x axis twice each, with vertices below the x axis,
y intercepts above the x axis
