i need the answer to this quistion

The amount of money Jason earns working at his job is directly proportional to the number of hours he works. If Jason works 12 hours he earns $186. How many hours would he need to work to earn $294.50?

What Mr. Paul M. said.12 hr/$186 = x hr / $294.50 If that makes sense. So (likely using a calculator) multiply both sides by $ 294.50 to get x, the number of hours. Also, if this doesn't add confusion, notice that the $ unit cancels from the left side of the equation because the $186 is divided by the $294.50.
