The two vertical lines next to the "2x" show absolute value. The absolute value of a term takes the result of whatever is in between the two vertical lines and makes it positive, so positive numbers stay positive and negative numbers are turned positive. To create a table of values for the equation y=|2x| you can plug in numbers for x to find values for y. For example, if we say x =3 then we plug it into the equation to get y=|2*3|. If we continue with the math we get y=|6| then y=6. We can try with a negative number as well: if x=-1 then y=|2*-1| = |-2| = 2.
