If I have 3 pennies in my pocket and you have 6 "more than" I do, then you have 3 + 6 or 9.
If I have x nickels in my pocket and Larry has 10 more than I do, then an expression for the number of nickels Larry has is x + 10.
The quotient of two numbers implies division. The quotient of x and y is x/y. The quotient of 7 and 12 is 7/12.
So for this problem the quotient of 12 and 6 is 12/6.
8 more than that quotient is 12/6 + 8 .
Of course this evaluates to 2+8 = 10.
Another example.
An expression for 10 more than the quotient of x and 3 is: x/3 + 10.
