Two consecutive odd numbers can be n and n + 2. Makes the arithmetic easier.

Wouldn’t the two consecutive odd integers be n and n+2 therefore changing the result?

They both give same result. With n and n+2 you get the result directly. With 2n-1 and 2n+1 you have to solve for n first and then substitute to find the two odd nos.
