Need help with equivalent expressions

Question

A square has a side length of s+16. A rectangle has a length of s+25 and a width of s-8. I need the perimeter of each figure. I also need to know if each perimeter is the same.

square side is s+16 and all sides are equal

 

perimeter of square

4(s+16) = 4s + 64

 

 

for rectangle

 

add the length and width first and then multiply by 2

 

(s+25)+(s-8) = 2s + 17

 

2(2s+17) = 4s +34

 

the perimeter of square and rectangle are not the same
