The point-slope form of the equation

Use the given conditions to write an equation for the line in point-slope form and in slope-intercept form. Passing through (3,-8) and perpendicular to the line whose equation is x + 2y = 7

The slope of the normal (perpendicular) is -1/2.

The point slope form is -1/2 = (y+8)/(x-3).

You should be able to get the other form yourself.
