Let x= the first odd consecutive integer
Let x+2 = the 2nd
Let x+4 = the 3rd
Let x+6 = the 4th
Add them, set the sum = 184
solve for x
x+x+2+x+4+x+6 = 184
4x +12 = 184
4x = 184-12 = 172
x = 172/4 = 43
the 4 consecutive odd integers are 43,45,47 and 49
another way to solve the problem is divide 184 by 4
184/4 = 46 = the midpoint of the 4 odd consecutive integers
making 43,45,47, 49 the integers you want
46+/-1 = 45 and 47
46+/-3 = 43 and 49
46 is midway between 45 and 47
and also midway between 43 and 49
