A flower bed is in the shape of a triangle with one side twice the length of the shortest side and the third side is 15 feet more than the length of the shortest side. Find the dimensions if the perimeter is 119 feet.

then, x+15 = length of the third side

Forming an equation and solving,

119 = x + 2x + x+15

119 = 4x + 15

119 - 15 = 4x

104 = 4x

x = 104/4

hence, we get

x = 26 feet (one side)

then, 2x = 52 feet (second side)

x + 15 = 41 feet (third side)

to recheck our answer, 26 + 52 + 41 = 119.
