Logarithms are inverse function of exponents. 104 = 1000, log10 (10000) = 4
So you can do the same thing with logs that you do with exponents.
Two properties of logs are these:
1) logn (xy) = logn x + logn y for any base n
ex. log10 (100)(100) = log10 100 + log10 100
= 2 + 2 or 4, log10 (10000) = 4
2) logn (x/y) = logn x - logn y for any base n
ex. log10 (100/100) = log10 100 - log10 100
= 2 - 2 or 0 , log10 (1) = 0
