5.1=2.5-.4y
5.1-2.5=-.4y
2.6=-.4y
divided by 4 then
y= -6.5
it lies between -6 and -7 in number line

Integers are whole numbers, and consecutive integers are those that are next to each other. For example, the following are consecutive integers:
1 and 2
-3 and -2
0 and 1
And the following are not consecutive integers:
1 and 3 (because 2 comes between 1 and 3)
-3 and 0 (because -2 and -1 both come between -3 and 0)
1.1 and 2 (because 1.1 is not an integer)
So this question is asking you to solve the equation for y and find which two consecutive integers y falls between. I'll work the full answer out here, so you have a complete framework from which you can solve similar questions.
5.1 = 2.5 – 0.4y
5.1 – 2.5 = -0.4y
2.6 = -0.4y
2.6/-0.4 = y
-6.5 = y
Since y = -6.5, we just need to find the two consecutive integers that are closest to this number, which we now know are:
-7 and -6
