Reflecting a point over the x-axis is done by keeping the same x-coordinate, but taking the opposite of the y-coordinate.
Use the following graph to get the idea. The point (13,10) and its image (13,-10) are fixed, but you can drag the red or green points wherever you want to see the reflection across the x axis. This graph also shows that the point (x,0) is the midpoint of the segment joining a point and its reflection across the x axis.
