Standard Form of a Linear Equation: Ax + By = C. A, B, and C must be integers {...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3...}
M is the Slope of the line and the line passes through the point (7,9) where 7 is the x1 value and 9 is the y1 value.
I like to use the Point-Slope Form to solve this:
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 9 = -5(x-7) Distribute the -5
y - 9 = -5x + 35 Add 9 to both sides of the equation
+9 +9
y = -5x + 44 Move the -5x to the other side of the equation to put it in standard form
+5x +5x
5x + y = 44
