Need to figure out how move the other variables and constants to isolate the "a" on one side of the equal sign. Use PEMDAS in reverse. Do necessary additions or subtractions on both sides and then multiplications or divisions to "undo" the terms.
x - 6a = -2n
Can subtract the "x" to get -6a = -2n - x
Then can divide both sides by the -6 to get a = (-2n - x)/-6 or a = (2n + x)/6 if multiply top and bottom by -1 to get rid of the negative signs.
Or multiply -6a = -2n - x by -1 on both sides: 6a = 2n + x, then do the division by 6 to get a = (2n +x)/6 as shown above.
