of steel, how many rods did it make?

Use 3.14 for r, and do not round your answer.

volume of each rod = 360pi = 360(3.14)

divide 48,607.2 cm^3 by 360(3.14) cm^3

48607.2/1130.4

=43 rods,

exactly

that's not rounded off,

although if you used a more accurate pi value

you'd get an irrational solution and without rounding

off, you'd have an infinite series of digits to the

decimal point

such as 48607.2/360(3.141593) = 42.97819609

round off to 42.978196 rods= about 43 rods

but not quite

this assumes you left off cm^3 next to the 48 thousand+ number

that it came out so evenly to exactly 43 is a good clue that

cm^3 goes with 48,607.2
