58 is the average of 24 and 92 = (24+92)/2 =116/2 = 58
24-58 < x-58 < 92-58
-34<x -58< 34
which is the same as:
|x-58| < 34
the absolute value of (x-58) is less than or equal to 34, but
instead of the equality underline, _, under the inequality sign, <,
use a wiggly wavy type line ,~, to indicate approximately equal, instead of exactly equal
the absolute value of (x-58) is less than or approximately or about equal to 34
