it helps to plot the points, connect the with line segments
medians connect a vetex to the midpoint of the opposite side
(3,9) to (3,1) = length of 8 for one median, the most easily calculated
(1,1) to (4,5) = length of sqr(3^2 +4^2) = sqr(25) = 5
(5,1) to (2,5) = length of sqr(3^2 +4^2) = 5
It's an isosceles triangle so 2 medians are the same length = 5 each.
median lengths = 5,5 and 8
midpoints of opposite sides are the average of x coodinates of the other 2 vertices and the average of the y coordinates of the other 2 sides. (1,1) has a median line to the opposite side with midpoint ((3+5)/2, (9+1)/2) = (8/2, 10/2) = (4, 5)
