A (-3,-6)= one endpoint
M (1,-4)= midpoint
B (5,-2) = the other endpoint
the x coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the A and B x coordinates: (-3+5)/2 =2/2 = 1
the y coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the A and B y coordinates: (-6-2)/2 =-8/2= -4
