A 10 mile trip costs $7.00.
Since Tony paid $7.50 she went more than 10 miles
She went for $1.50 worth of miles extra. That is 3 miles
Tony went for 13 miles.
7.50 = 2 + 0.50m - 1

Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
C(x)= F+Mx for x<10
C(x) =F-1 +Mx when x>10
F= flat Fee
x = number of miles
M = cost per mile
7.50 = F +Mx if x< 10
7.50 = F+Mx-1 if x>10
8.50 = F+Mx if x >10
