14 gallons
trip distance = miles = m/gal x gallons = mpg x gallons = 14x mpg
d = 14mpg miles
similar to the d=rt formula where r= rate of speed and t = time
but now it's
d =14mpg= rate of miles per gallon times gallons
to find the distance of the trip multiply 14 by the miles per gallon of the vehicle
14x28 (using 28 mpg as a rough estimate) = 787 miles
or
to find the mpg of the vehicle: mpg = d/14
= 14x28/14 = 28 mpg
