Into each quart of Continental Mocha go 1 egg and 3 cups of cream. You have in stock 700 eggs and 1,200 cups of cream. How many quarts of each flavor should you make in order to use up all the eggs and cream?

Vanilla uses 2 eggs + 3 cups per quart of ice cream.

Mocha uses 1 egg + 3 cups

For total eggs: 2V + 1M = 700

For total cream 3V + 3M = 1200

Solve system of equations:

Mult eggs by 3: 6V + 3M = 2100

3V + 3M = 1200

Subtract: 3V + 0 = 900 → V = 300 qts

2(300) + 1M = 700 → M = 100 qts

Check: Total eggs: 2(300) + 1(100) = 700 eggs

Total cream: 3(300) + 3(100) = 1200 cups
