Area and Perimeter

Need help with these questions:



The Perimeter of two similar figures are 25.6 and 66.4. Find the area of each figure, if the sum of their areas is 712.17 square inches.


The areas of two similar kites are 16 square feet and 64 square feet. If the sum of their perimeters is 5.4 feet, find the perimeter of each kite.

Here are some hints using the same letters that appeared in the video. The ratio of the given areas is 64/16 = 4 which is k^2. So, take the square root of 4 to get the linear constant of proportionality. The means the kites have perimeters that are in the ratio 2 to 1. So, x + 2x = 5.4. Take if from there.
