Still having trouble with these word problems

Could you help me with this equation you're the only one who seems to be able to solve this style of equation.

Choose the equation whose line contains the point (1,-4)

1) y=6x

2) x-3y=14

3) 2x+y=-5

4)-4x=-14

5) y=1/5x-8

6) x-5y=-2

7) y=4x-8

8) -3y=18

Thank you!

Don't really need to "solve" any equation. Just use trial and error with values x = 1 and y = -4 to see which of the given eqns is true. See Raymond's response.
