add 3 to both sides

divide by 2

none of the options "seem" to be correct.
But if this were one of those computer time pressure tests
with no alternative but pick a,b,c, or d,
go with a)
b) is virtually the same, but a) is better than b)
a) includes only values of x in the solution set and one more of them than b)
b), is close but has one value less than a) that's in the solution set
c) and d) both include some values in the solution set, but mostly values not in the solutiion set
a) is technically correct and also the "best" answer, depending on how you interpret the problem
many tests say choose the "best" answer, with an implicit suggestion that all may not be fully correct
It's also possible a) was a typo and it was supposed to have a negative sign in front of the 5
