I think there is a slight error in the question. I am assuming the sales tax rate is 7.5%, and the dollar sign in front of the 7 is erroneous.
Our goal is to find 7.5% of $645.98, which is the total tax, and then add that back to $645.98 to find the final price. You can do that in one step by first converting 7.5% to a decimal, which is 0.075, and then add one to that, which is 1.075, and multiplying by the price of the laptop, $645.98.
645.98 x 1.075 = 694.4285
Since we are dealing with money, we will round to 2 decimal places, or 694.43.
