Rebecca, So let's find the total cost of each item. Quinn mailed four postcards for $0.25 each or $1 total. Quinn mailed five letters for $0.44 each or $2.20 total. Quinn mailed two large envelopes for $0.80 each or $1.60 total and then one small package for $5.10. Even if you combine the other 3 prices of $0.44 + $2.20 + $1.60 that still is significantly less than one small package. Therefore the bulk of the money spent is on the small package which will greatly skew the mean. Quinn for instance could mail 20 postcards for less than it costs for 1 small package. Quinn could mail 11 letters, 6 large envelopes to still be less than 1 small package. The small package is going to greatly skew the mean (average price) of goods sold.
