I have a 87.71% I just failed my test and scored 50% what will be my overall final grade

Hi Mark, that answer depends entirely on what percentage of your grade the test was worth.

Worth 10%: 83.94%

Worth 30%: 76.4%

Worth 50%: 68.86%

50 is the other half

average them to get (87.71+50)/2 = 68.855

You passed. with a D+. Congratulations' (as some say in medical school P=MD)

if the final test counted half the grade, which is customary

but if it counted more you're in trouble of failing.

still it usually counts half or less, so you may even have passed with a gentlewo/man's C

Or another popular grading system is to let the final also replace your lowest other test grade. While 50 looks very low and unlikely to replace any tests that had averaged out to 87.7, it's possible if you had 10 previous tests with grades of 100 on 9 and zero on 1, you'd have an average of 90. a 50 on the final could replace the zero on that 1 bad test. then (9(90) +50)/10 =860/10=86 as half the grade, 50 the other half for a final grade of (86+50)/2 = 136/2 = 68

another popular grading system is reward the suckup lapdog student, and fail the student who points out errors in the instructor's classroom presentations. the instructor hates you with a double h. So get an A by sucking up. Get an F no matter how super well you know the material, you'll get graded down for endless format problems (especially online technology problems), lateness or supposed "cheating'
