The population of the GTA is growing at 12 % per year. If the population of Toronto is 2.9 million in 2020, how many people would we expect to have by 2045?

2. Use your equation to find how many people will be in the GTA in 2045

where r = annual growth rate=12%=.12, t = years since 2020, 2.9 million=2020 population

P = 2.9e^.12(25)

= 2.9e^4

= 2.9(54.6)

= 158.3346351 million

P =158,334,635 = expected Toronto population in 2045
