Try multiplying the top equation by 3 and the bottom equation by -4, this way the x terms fall-out when the two equations are added together:
(x3) 4x +3y = 2
(x(-4)) 3x + 5y = -4
This gives:
12x +9y = 6
-12x -20y =16
When added together --> -11y =22, so, y = -2
Substitute y into either (original) equation and you'll get x = 2
Hope this helps,
