Calculate the slope between the two given points (rise/run, (change in y)/(change in x).
m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
m = (3-(-1))/(2-1) = 4/1.
This means every time x increases by 1 (the run), y increases by 4 (the rise).
In the given table the x values are increasing by 1, so just keep adding 4 to the previous y value to get the next y value.
Another way to proceed is to find the equation of the line passing through the given points. The slope has already been calculated, m = 4.
Use slope-intercept or point-slope to find the equation of the line:
y - 3= 4(x-2)
y = 4x-8+3
y = 4x-5
So when x = 3
y = 4(3)-5 = 7
Etc.
