difference between -10 and product of p and q
product of p and q is pq
the "difference" usually means the positive difference or the absolute value of the difference.
the difference could be either pq - -10 or -10 -pq. one difference is pq+10, the other is -pq-10 both are the same if you take the absolute value, as one is just the opposite sign of the other. but if you make each positive, then they are the same value
for example, let p=2 and q=-3
then pq=-6
and pq-(-10) = -6+10=4
while -pq-10 = --6-10= 6-10=-4
absolute value of -4 = |-4|= +4
so they're the same, if you take the absolute value
