The senior class at high school a rented and filled 5 vans and 3 buses with 90 students. High school b rented and filled 9 vans and 4 buses with 141 students. Each van and each bus carried the same number of students. Find the number of students on each van and bus

9V +4V = 141

multiply 2nd by 3

multiply 1st by 4

then subtract

27V +12B = 423

20V + 12B =360

7V = 63

V = 63/7 = 9 Vans

3B = 90-5(9) = 45

B = 45/3 = 15 Buses

check the answers

9(9)+4(15) = 81 +60 = 141

5(9)+3(15) = 45+45 = 90
