Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
you count to the right of the decimal place or point,
or "behind" the decimal place or point
13.1 times 11 = 144.1
you have as many digits to the right of the decimal place in the answer as in the problem
one digit to the right plus zero digits to the right = one digit to the right in the answer
1.3 times 1.1 = 1.43
one digit to the right plus one digit to the right = two digits to the right in the answer
0.13 times 1.1 = 0.143
two digits to the right plus one digit to the right = three digits to the right in the answer
(ignore the endless zeros. 0.13000.... and 1.10000....
just "chop" off any zeros at the ends. use 0.13 not 0.130 when counting
digits to the right)
