Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
h(x) = 5x-1
h^-1(x) = (x+1)/5
the inverse reverses the arithmetic operations
h multiplies by 5 and subtracts 1
the interse adds 1 and divides by 5
multiplication is the inverse of division
addition is the inverse of subtraction
h(h^-1(x)) = x
h((x+1)/5) = 5((x+1)/5) -1 = x+1-1 = x
an inverse function results in the original value you started with, reversing each operation in h(x)
