5/8 loaf for each of the 8 people
5/8 = 0.625 = 62.5% of a loaf for each person, to share equally from the 5 loaves.
cut each loaf in half, creating 8 one half loafs, give half a loaf to each of the eight
that leaves 1 loaf cut in half. Cut each of those half loafs in half, which are then four 1/4 loafs.
cut each of those four 1/4 loaf pieces in half, to create eight 1/8 loaf pieces, Give each of the
8 people one of those 1/8 loaf pieces. Now each person has 1/2 loaf + 1/8 loaf = (1/2+1/8) = 4/8+1/8 = 5/8 loaf per person. 5/8=0.625 = 62.5% of a loaf per person
To see what is needed use a piece of paper to represent a loaf. Take 5 pieces of paper. cut each piece in half. Divide each 1/2 piece of paper into 8 separate piles representing each of the 8 people. then cut the remaining 2 halves in half, creating four 1/4 pieces of paper. cut each of those remaining pieces in half, leaving eight 1/8 pices of paper. Divide them equally among the 8 piles of paper.
