USCIS Interview - Understanding of English, words and definitions
If you aren't fluent in English the UNDERSTANDING ENGLISH is the most difficult part. As a tutor, I practice. with my students the questions the interview official may asks during the interview, many are the YES NO questions from the N-400 application. This give me the opportunity to discuss some words and definitions that the officer may asks if he suspects an applicant doesn't understand english. This will increase your confidence to pass this required test.

Once you finally get your appointment with USCIS, you will need to prepare for the civics test and the reading and writing tests. Most importantly, you will need to be able to answer questions about your completed N-400. This dialog with the officer will test your fluency in English. I always ask my students to report back to me about the interview. Some have said that it was very easy and very few questions were asked of them. Others have said that the interview was difficult because the officer asked them for the meaning of several words that are in the N-400, such as "persecute," "procured," and "fraudulent." I prepare my students for the civics test and then we spend a lot of time practicing the interview so that they feel as comfortable and confident as possible during the interview. So far, they have all passed!
