f(x)-g(x) = 3x-2 - (2x+1) Distribute to clear the parenthesis.
3x-2 - (2x+1) (My guess is this is what you are missing. When you subtract polynomials you have to subtract the whole polynomial which involves changing the sign of all the terms. Many people just subtract the first term.)
