diners/snackers = 4/7
Let x = number of snackers
4/7 = 148/x
solve via simple crisscross
4(x) = 7(148)
x = 259
4 diners 148 diners (120 + 28) diners (4*30 + 4*7) diners 4 * (30 + 7) diners
--------------------- = ------------------------- = ----------------------- = --------------------------- = ---------------------------
7 snackers X snackers X snackers X snackers X snackers
4 diners 4 * 37 diners 4 * 37 diners
--------------------- = ------------------------- = ----------------------- , so X = 7 * 37 = 210 + 49 = 259 snackers
7 snackers X snackers 7 * 37 snackers
