Since it's urgent - here goes.
D + Q = 40 D = no. dimes; Q = no. quarters. Solve for D so can substitute later. D = 40 - Q
Equation for value is 0.10D + 0.25Q = 6.25 or, to avoid decimals, express everything in cents:
10D + 25Q = 625 Substituting for D: 10(40 - Q) + 25Q = 625
400 - 10Q + 25Q = 625 -> 15Q = 225 Q = 225/15 = 15 Quarters
D = 40 - 15 = 25 Dimes
Check: $0.10(25) + $0.25(15) = $2.50 + $3.75 = $6.25
