10 cats to every 12 dogs.
If there are 80 dogs,
the number of cats = C where
C/80 = 10/(12) = 10/12
C/80 = 10/12
C/80 = 5/6
cross multiply
C = 400/6
= 66 2/3 = about 67 Cats
67/80 = about 5/6
with 80 dogs, the number of cats is about 67
10/12 =5/6 = .8333...
67/80 = .8375
66/80 = .8250 which is further from 10/12 than 67/80 is
80/12 = 40/6 = 6 2/3
6 2/3 times 10 = 66 2/3 cats
