Hello for this we are going to set up an equation where our final area equals 1120 we know that since we are cutting our squares from the corners of the box the amount we take away from our 48-inch side is the same as what we take away from our 36-inch side. and since there are two corners that touch each side length we need to account for that so our equation will be (48-2x)(36-2x)=1120 where the x is the side length of the square we are cutting out. can get 4x^2-168x+608=0 using the quadratic formula we can get x=4
