There are two ways to solve this problem, and both are correct...
I recommend learning how to do option #1, as it is much easier to use as you advance in mathematics, but there is no harm in using option #2 to check your work as you learn how to use this skill.
1.We can set up a proportion
(Part/Whole) = (Part/Whole)
(Water/ Oz) = (Water / Oz)
(x ml /18 oz) = (225 ml / 8 oz) ----- to solve this we will need to cross multiply
(x ml)*(8 oz) = (18 oz) * (225 ml)
8x = 4050 ml
x= 506.25 ml of water in her coffee
2.We can find the ml per oz and multiply by the amount we have
225 ml per 8 oz.
225ml / 8 oz. = 28.125 ml per oz.
28.125 ml * 18 oz. = 506.25 ml
x= 506.25 ml
