y = 3x/2 + b, slope = negative inverse of -2/3
plug in point (-7,7) to find b=y intercept
7= -21/2 + b
b =7+10.5 = 17.5
y = 3x/2 +35/2 is the perpendicular line in slope intercept form

The slopes of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocals of each other. So if the slope of a line is -2/3, then a line perpendicular to it would have a slope of 3/2. Slope intercept form is y=mx+b (m=slope, b=y-intercept). Now that you know the slope of the line, you can plug in the point they give for x and y and solve for b.

(y - 7) = (3/2)(x + 7)

that is in point slope form. the problem asked for slope intercept form. Not the same form. both have "slope" in the name but that is all08/07/25
