asked 04/25/22The length of a rectangle of a rectangle is equal to the width write a system of linear equations to find the dimensions of the rectangle if the perimeter is 75 cm

L = W
2L + 2W = 75 or 4W = 75 or 4L = 75
or
L = W = s
4s = 75

Step One: Assign variables
Length will be assigned "L" and width will be assigned "W"
Step Two: Build the equations
Based on what you know about rectangles, perimeter is the sum of all four sides and equals 75cm
And the problem statement says length equals width, so let's make an equation for the perimeter and another for the equality between L and W
Equation 1: L + L + W + W = 75
Equation 2: W = L
Technically, that's an acceptable answer because it is a set of equations however, you can easily go a step further...
Because L = W, you can replace one of them with the other in Equation 1. Let's get rid of the W's and put L's in their place like this: L + L + L + L = 45. Or 4L = 75 or L = 75/4.
And now your simplified set of equations would be:
Equation 1: L = 75/4
Equation 2: W = L
