If I were an Italian American living in the early twentieth century, I would have strived to balance my cultural heritage with the opportunities and challenges of life in America. I would have celebrated Italian traditions at home, speaking Italian with my family, cooking traditional meals, and attending festivals and church events that connected me to my roots. At the same time, I would have lived in a close-knit Italian community, relying on neighbors and mutual aid societies for support in times of need. Economically, I would have worked hard in labor-intensive jobs, such as construction or factory work, while also seeking to open a small family business like a bakery or grocery store to provide stability and upward mobility. Above all, I would have prioritized saving and investing in property, ensuring that my family could thrive in America while maintaining the rich cultural identity that shaped who I am.
