The length of a rectangle is twice its widith. lf the perimeter of the rectangle is 30 yd, find it's length.
Detailed Solution:
Given/Known: L = 2W Perimeter: P = 2L + 2W = 30
P = 2L + 2W = 30 ==> 2(2W) + 2W = 30 ==> 4W + 2W = 30 ==> 6W = 30 ==> W = 5
L = 2W ==> L = 2(5) ==> L = 10
Check: P = 2L + 2W = 30 ==> P = 2(10) + 2(5) = 30 ==> P = 20 + 10 = 30 ==> P = 30 = 30 (True - Checks)
L - length
W - width
L=2W
P=2L + 2W
30=4W+2W
30=6W
W=5
L=10
