multiply 2nd equation by 2

10M +6V =50

subtract the1st equation to get

10M-2M =8M = 50-40 = 10

8M = 10

M = 10/8

M = $1.25 for each movie

V = (25-5(1.25))/3 = 18.75/3

V= $6.25

movies cost $1.25 each

video games cost $6.25 each

check the answers:

2(1.25) + 6(6.25) = 2.5 +37.5 = 40

5(1.25) + 3(6.25) = 6.25 + 18.75 = 25
