This seems worded in such a way as to make people get it wrong. I assume that the side length is in units. Therefore, the 1/4 unit side cubes have a volume of (1/4)³ units³ = 1/64 cubic units per cube

divide 11.25 total cubic units/ (1/64) cubic units/cube or 11.25 (64)
