What is the probability of choosing a pen from the first box? It is 1/8.

 

What is the probability of selecting a crayon from the second box? It is 5/10 = 1/2.

 

The probability of picking a pen from the first box and a crayon from the second box is 1/8 x 1/2 = 1/16
