Sum means the product of addition. The sum of a number and 10 is (n + 10) or (x+10)... any variable plus 10. This sum doubled means multiply by 2 so: 2(n +10). This equals 46:
2(n+10) = 46
Solve for n by dividing both sides of the equation by 2, and then subtract 10 from both sides.
